The global goals

While extreme poverty has eased considerably since 1990, pockets of the worst forms of poverty persist. Ending poverty requires universal social protection systems aimed at safeguarding all individuals throughout the life cycle. At JIDOKA we protect our work force through a healthy financial system, market conform salaries and extralegal benefits.
As a company we want to support charities and causes. We support YOUCA.be, which focuses on ending poverty and building the resilience the poor and those in vulnerable situations. We do a yearly digital Christmas mailing and donate the saved cost of paper cards, envelopes and stamps to charity.

After a prolonged decline, world hunger appears to be on the rise again. Conflict, drought and disasters linked to climate change are among the key factors causing this reversal in progress.
In the near future we want to support charities and causes that focus on ending hunger and malnutrition, enhancing agriculture and sustainable food production. Our coffee, milk, sugar and tea is fair-trade.

We protect, promote and enhance the health, nutrition and well-being of our employees. That way, they can enjoy healthy lives at work and at home. We protect our employees ergonomically or while travelling, but also do we launch health promotions and programs. On top of that, we offer them free participation in sporting events, provide a weekly fruit basket at the office, offer everyone free hospitalisation insurance…
Well-being unleashes the energy in our people to drive sustainable performance. By enhancing their physical, mental, emotional and purposeful wellbeing we can tackle the health risks that are common in our business such as smoking, obesity, physical health issues such as repetitive strain injury, burnout, depression… We also continuously try to create an environment that is supportive of our employees’ personal lives, while still meeting our business needs. We regularly perform a psychosocial risk analysis and satisfaction survey to measure wellbeing and take adequate actions. We also have an internal prevention advisor and confidential counselor who have been professionally trained.

More than half of children and adolescents worldwide are not meeting minimum proficiency standard in reading and mathematics. We need refocused efforts to improve the quality of education. Disparities in education along the lines of gender, urban-rural education and other dimensions still run deep. We need more investments in education infrastructure.
At JIDOKA we highly value the strong cooperation with schools, colleges, universities and other educational institutions. On a yearly basis we invest time and effort in organising knowledge events, giving workshops and lectures and providing quality education to both our internal and external network. On a yearly basis we get rewards for our efforts towards internships with an internship quality label.

While some forms of discrimination against women and girls are diminishing, gender inequality continues to hold women back and deprives them of basic rights and opportunities. Empowering women requires addressing structural issues such as unfair social norms and attitudes as well as developing progressive legal frameworks that promote equality between women and men.

Too many people still lack access to safely managed water supplies and sanitation facilities. Water scarcity, flooding and lack of proper wastewater management also hinder social and economic development. Increasing water efficiency and improving water management are critical to balancing the competing and growing water demands from various sectors and users.
To ensure responsible consumption of water at our offices, we have installed a water dispenser that filters tap water. In the future we want to support charities and causes that focus on water and sanitation management, reducing pollution…Our employees have received Dopper water bottles as an incentive.

Ensuring access to affordable, reliable and modern energy for all has come one step closer due to recent progress in electrification and improvements in industrial energy efficiency. However, national priorities and policy ambitions still need to be strengthened to put the world on track to meet the energy targets.
We designed and equipped our JIDOKA offices with energy efficient appliances. We try to sensitize our workforce in being vigilant in their energy consumption.

Since our foundation in 2013, JIDOKA has realised a growth of 35% on a yearly basis. We are motivated and committed to maintain and even increase our economic growth numbers. We have excellent retention numbers and continue employing motivated professionals, offering them challenges, growth opportunities and a stable work environment.
On a yearly basis we offer several Young Potentials a highly qualitative and professional internship. 21% of our workforce are students and interns in whom we invest our time and effort to help elevate their professional and personal growth and ensure they reach high chances in the future job market.

Steady progress has been made in many industries. To achieve inclusive and sustainable industrialization, competitive economic forces need to be unleashed to generate employment and income, facilitate international trade and enable the efficient use of resources.

A code that describes the expectations we have from all those working for JIDOKA and which we require each of them to subscribe, support and apply in his or her daily work.

We recognize that we are part of the communities in which we operate. We engage with our communities on human rights matters that are important and engage with people in those communities, including non-native Belgian inhabitants as well as other vulnerable and disadvantaged groups. Our aim is to ensure through dialogue that we are listening to, learning from and considering their views as we conduct our business.
We are passionate about our community remaining strong and vibrant despite the fast and sometimes harsh evolutions in our society. Therefore we support regular social and charity fundraising events. Over the years JIDOKA has assisted vzw Fabiola, Red Nose Fund, Mediclowns, Kom op tegen Kanker and lots of other great charitable causes.

Decoupling economic growth from resource use is one of the most critical and complex challenges facing humanity today. Doing so effectively will require policies that create a conducive environment for such change, social and physical infrastructure and markets, and a profound transformation of business practices along global value chains.
To ensure responsible consumption of water at our offices, we have installed a water dispenser that filters tap water. Also we find it very important that all our waste (batteries, paper, bottles, cans…) is well sorted, recycled and limited to a minimum.

The world continues to experience rising sea levels, extreme weather conditions and increasing concentrations of greenhouse gases. This calls for urgent action by countries as they implement their commitments on climate change.
At JIDOKA we provide company cars to our employees. However these cars are thoroughly selected based on several environmental standards such as CO2. The way our fleet management is organised, we guarantee the most energy efficient and environmentally friendly cars. Our mobility procedures also reward and support employees who seek alternative transportation methods such as public transport or bicycles. Our offices are part of a technology campus where the use of green power is a high priority.

Advancing the sustainable use and conservation of the oceans continues to require effective strategies and management to combat the adverse effects of overfishing, growing ocean acidification and worsening coastal eutrophication. The expansion of protected areas for marine biodiversity, intensification of research capacity and increases in ocean science funding remain critically important to preserve marine resources.
In the future we want to support charities and causes that focus on marine pollution, coastal ecosystems and sustainable fishery.

Protection of forest and terrestrial ecosystems is on the rise, and forest loss has slowed. That said, other facets of terrestrial conservation continue to demand accelerated action to protect biodiversity, land productivity and genetic resources and to curtail the loss of species.
In the near future, we want to promote fair and equitable sharing of the benefits arising from the utilisation of genetic resources and promote appropriate access to such resources. We also want to support charities and causes that focus on ecosystems and biodiversity. Our cleaning firm only uses eco-friendly and biological cleaning products.

We strive to respect and promote human rights and peace in relationships with our employees, suppliers, customers and partners. Respect is also one of the JIDOKA core values. We strive to create workplaces in which open and honest communication among all employees are valued and respected. JIDOKA is committed to comply with applicable labor and employment laws wherever we operate.
High standards of ethical behavior and compliance with laws and regulations are essential to protecting the reputation and long-term success of our business. Any incidents of bribery and corruption involving, or relating to JIDOKA, will damage our reputation. All employees have a personal responsibility for protecting our reputation and living up to our values of being trusted to deliver excellence. They therefore have to sign an official Code of Conduct.

This goal seeks to strengthen global partnerships to support and achieve the ambitious targets of the 2030 Agenda, bringing together national governments, the international community, civil society, the private sector and other actors. Despite advances in certain areas, more needs to be done to accelerate progress. All stakeholders will have to refocus and intensify their efforts on areas where progress has been slow.
To support this goal, we are going to research which partnerships we can create to support all of these SDGs both on short and long term. We want to set-up, encourage and promote effective public, public-private and civil society partnerships, building on the experience and resourcing strategies of partnerships.
